In 2012 The Funplex-East Hanover spent time organizing the facility to bring ease of use to the guests while adding in a new water experience called “Splashplex”. First, an additional seating area called the “mezzanine” was accomplished by creating a mezzanine level above the café area. The space is a relaxing atmosphere looking over the arcade and indoor attractions many adults have a tendency to gravitate towards. After adding the seating café, sales incrementally increased as well as party sales as the Funplex was then able to rent the additional space. An elevator was added to accommodate handicap guests into The Funplex’s upstairs party room space. Two of the upstairs party rooms were renovated; one was transformed into a VIP Party Room made for special events specifically. Each room contributed to a large increase in party sales over the course of 2012. The first party room provided an inexpensive private room rental previously not available in the facility. The VIP party room provided the opposite for larger parties of 40 to 60 people, throughout the year hosting everything from birthday parties, Sweet 16’s to adult birthday parties.
In June of 2012, The Funplex opened “Splashplex” and for its grand opening had nearly 400 guests! “Splashplex” consists of elevated water blasters, hydro storm towers, loose water hoses, a Wild Water Playground, 359 Linear Feet of Water Slides and a newly renovated 5 Foot Deep Pool. The grand opening proved to be just the beginning of an incredibly busy and popular water attraction all the way through Labor Day. By offering an outdoor amusement, The Funplex was able to maintain a busy season and significantly increase its income for the year. For next year, “Splashplex” will open right on Memorial day providing two more weeks of income and, with it becoming more established, the interest will only increase. “Splashplex” also lent itself toward a season pass structure which was extremely popular and rewarding for guests. Many Funplex guests used the pass almost like a pool club providing a loyal base of families for future promotions.
Each year, The Funplex hosts its own camp throughout the summer and this attraction brought something completely different for the camp guests. Mirroring the rest of the results Camp Funplex saw a large increase with even more enthusiastic campers. This upcoming summer there is another pool being added in to accommodate the large amount of guests expected in 2013. Each attraction addition continues to show the Funplex’s commitment to providing new and exciting experiences to guests each year. Through continual remodeling of private spaces and flow of facility TheFunplex shows that it values the overall experience of the guests.
